Jeep Enters Rebelle Rally for Ninth Year, Highlights Desert Rated Gladiator Pickup
Jeep Gladiator, known as the most capable midsize pickup, is set to take on the only women’s off-road navigation rally in the U.S.
In the upcoming 2024 Rebelle Rally, Jeep is set to showcase its prowess once again through the iconic 2024 Gladiator Mojave, marking a groundbreaking shift as they enter the competition with this midsize pickup for the first time. Nena Barlow and Teralin Petereit, seasoned veterans in the rally scene, will be at the helm of the Gladiator Mojave, aiming to conquer the challenging terrains of the Nevada and California deserts.
The Rebelle Rally stands out as the first and only women's off-road navigation rally in the United States, offering a unique blend of driving pleasure and the intricate challenge of precise navigation. This eight-day competition spans an impressive 1,500 miles and serves as the ideal platform for Jeep to showcase the durability and capability of the Gladiator Mojave.
"The Jeep community will be rallying behind Nena and Teralin as they unleash the full potential of Gladiator Mojave,” said Bob Broderdorf, senior vice president and head of Jeep brand North America. “The Mojave is built for desert terrain and for the podium with these skilled competitors at the wheel.”
Team # 129 - Nena Barlow and Teralin Petereit
Based in Arizona, Barlow operates Barlow Adventures, which provides four-wheel-drive training, Jeep SUV rentals, and guided excursions across the southwestern United States. Petereit, a nurse hailing from Utah, has taken up off-roading as a personal interest, successfully navigating a variety of trails and competitions over the years. Both Barlow and Petereit are distinguished veterans of the Rebelle Rally, having participated in a total of 14 rallies together (three as partners) and achieving individual podium finishes on 12 occasions.
“We’re honored to represent the Jeep brand once again,” said Barlow. “The rally is tougher than ever, but we don’t have to worry about capability in our Jeep Gladiator Mojave. We never hesitate to chase the toughest checkpoints and that’s a huge advantage. And this is seen repeatedly by how many Jeep SUVs are in the rally and on the podium.”
Off-Road Beast Unleashed
What sets the Gladiator Mojave apart is its Desert Rated badge, a testament to its exceptional performance in dry and demanding environments. The 2024 model excites with new features like standard side-curtain airbags and a cutting-edge 12.3-inch Uconnect touchscreen radio. These enhancements, combined with its reinforced frame, strengthened axles, and enhanced suspension featuring FOX hydraulic jounce bumpers, make the Gladiator Mojave a force to be reckoned with in the desert landscape.
The Desert Rated Gladiator Mojave has undergone rigorous testing across five key categories: ride control and stability, traction, ground clearance, maneuverability, and performance in desert conditions:
Ride Control and Stability: With a groundbreaking desert-tuned suspension, Gladiator Mojave tackles undulating desert terrain with uncompromising control and comfort
Traction: By strategically managing and delivering power, Gladiator Mojave conquers unpredictable surfaces, such as sand, gravel and loose dirt, with confidence
Ground Clearance: Maximized running clearances with an optimized suspension allow Gladiator Mojave to crest dunes, blast through whoops and anything else the desert can throw at it
Maneuverability: Nimble and responsive handling allows Gladiator Mojave to become an extension of the driver when swiftly navigating desert terrain and climbing extreme angles
Desert Prowess: Tested and proven to withstand the intense heat, coarse sand, loose gravel and intrusive dust that accompany unforgiving desert environments
