Early Exits for Hagan, Stewart at NHRA Northwest Nationals
Despite high hopes and anticipation, the TSR team faced unexpected challenges that led to a short race day
The Tony Stewart Racing (TSR) team had a challenging day at the NHRA Northwest Nationals, experiencing early exits in the Direct Connection Dodge//SRT nitro cars. Despite the setbacks, defending NHRA Mission Drag Racing Funny Car Champion Matt Hagan put up a strong fight. Qualifying sixth, Hagan drove his TSR Direct Connection Dodge//SRT Hellcat to the quarterfinals.
Hagan showcased his skills with a remarkable 3.891 at 327.43 miles per hour run, defeating Dave Richards. However, luck was not on his side in the second round as he lost traction against Paul Lee. Despite the disappointment, Hagan's performance highlights his talent and determination on the drag racing circuit.
As the NHRA Mission Funny Car points standings currently place Hagan in third position, the team is gearing up for the upcoming Sonoma Nationals at Sonoma Raceway on July 26-28. With Hagan's competitive spirit and the TSR team's dedication, they are sure to bounce back stronger and continue to make their mark in the world of drag racing.
Legendary Motorsports Hall of Famer Tony Stewart, a Top Fuel rookie, unfortunately had an early exit from the Seattle event this past Sunday. Despite leaving the starting line ahead of Jasmine Salinas, his Direct Connection Dodge//SRT Top Fuel dragster lost traction, causing him to bow out in the first round.
Although Stewart showed promising speed off the line, his Top Fueler encountered issues with tire traction early on in the race. This setback led to his elimination from the competition, leaving fans disappointed but eager to see him bounce back in future events.
Currently sitting in the ninth position in the NHRA Mission Top Fuel points standings, Stewarts looking to make a strong comeback in the upcoming races.
