The Corvette ZR1 and its Dedicated Team are Consistently Making Waves in the Performance Car Industry

The #Corvette #ZR1, along with its talented team, is capturing attention in the world of performance vehicles. Throughout a tour of U.S. tracks, four different drivers from General Motors have piloted the Corvette ZR1 to set five remarkable new lap records for production cars.

Here are the five tracks along with the lap times of the Corvette ZR1, all driven by a GM driver:

  • Watkins Glen Long Course: 1:52.7. Driver: Bill Wise, Lead Performance Engineer, Chassis Controls

  • Road America: 2:08.6. Driver: Brian Wallace, Lead Vehicle Dynamics Engineer

  • Road Atlanta: 1:22.8. Driver: Chris Barber, Lead Development Engineer

  • Virginia International Raceway Full Course: 1:47.7. Driver: Aaron Link, Global Vehicle Performance Manager

  • Virginia International Raceway Grand Course: 2:32.3. Driver: Aaron Link

The drivers embarked on this track tour in a pre-production Corvette ZR1 that featured the optional ZTK Performance Package. This package significantly enhances the vehicle's aerodynamics with a striking, high-downforce rear wing, front dive planes, and a prominent Gurney lip on the hood, all made from woven carbon fiber. Additionally, the standard front underwing stall Gurney is replaced by underbody strakes, which greatly boost front downforce. The suspension adjustments included in the ZTK package consist of firmer springs and the addition of Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R ZP tires.

Featuring four distinct drivers behind the wheel of the Corvette ZR1, each showcasing their unique driving styles, these lap times highlight the remarkable engineering of the vehicle. Prospective buyers don’t need to be expert drivers to tap into the full potential of the 1,064-horsepower Corvette ZR1.

The drivers collectively boast 65 years of GM Level 6 driving experience, each bringing a wealth of racing and high-performance driving knowledge to General Motors. They all swiftly ascended to the pinnacle of GM’s driver certification program and earned Nürburgring Industry Pool certification. This elite group was tasked with pushing the Corvette ZR1 to its maximum capabilities on the most demanding and high-speed tracks across the U.S.

“Corvette ZR1 continues to showcase how this nameplate elevates at every corner,” Corvette executive chief engineer Tony Roma said. “From design, engineering, development, validation, to driving and setting incredible lap records like these – we do it all in house.”

The Corvette ZR1 equipped with the ZTK Package achieves an impressive top speed of 233 mph on the racetrack, accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.3 seconds, and completes a quarter-mile in 9.6 seconds. With such remarkable performance stats, it stands unmatched among production cars priced under $1 million.

The starting MSRPs for the Corvette ZR1 are set at $174,995 for the 1LZ coupe, including the $1,695 destination freight charge (DFC), and $184,995 for the 1LZ hardtop convertible, also including the DFC. Production is expected to kick off at General Motors' Bowling Green Assembly plant in Kentucky in the second quarter of 2025, with Chevrolet planning to open order books for the 2025 Corvette ZR1 later this month.
