2025 Corvette ZR1 Soars to an Astonishing 233 MPH
The 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 has claimed the title of the quickest car ever produced by an American automaker
At a test facility in Germany, General Motors President Mark Reuss piloted a 2025 Corvette ZR1 to an astonishing 233 mph, establishing a top speed record that no other production car under $1 million can match.
This remarkable two-way average speed was achieved on the northbound and southbound stretches of the High-Speed Oval Track at ATP Automotive Testing Papenburg during a recent evaluation in Papenburg, Germany.
“Achieving the top-speed record with the Corvette ZR1 is a significant victory for both Corvette and Chevrolet, and it was an exhilarating, almost surreal experience for me personally,” Reuss remarked. “With the current generation’s transition to a mid-engine design, we anticipated that the exceptional performance and balance would make this achievement possible. To go out there and accomplish it is a testament to the ZR1's power and the incredible talent of the team that engineered and built it.”
The ZR1 boasts the most potent V8 engine ever manufactured in the United States by an automotive company. The shift to mid-engine architecture in 2020 has unlocked unprecedented levels of performance and innovation.
Chevrolet engineers utilized GM’s extensive expertise in software, modeling, and hardware development to set a new speed standard for American automakers.
